The Village of Long Grove is unique among suburban communities - an oasis from suburban sprawl where residents can enjoy a relaxed and rural lifestyle. The village covers about 18 square miles, which translates into many acres of open space. Named for the groves of oak and hickory trees that covered a vast area that now includes the Deer Grove Forest Preserve, the village of Long Grove is a Lake County treasure.
Long Grove may be best known for its Historic Business District which attracts visitors with specialty shops, fine galleries, boutiques and special dining along the cobblestone sidewalks. Sensible planning and carefully styled merchandise have produced a unique retail business community.
Home sites are often multi-acre in size. Historic farmhouses, country mansions, Cape Cods, and stunning custom-built Tudors are among the housing choices. Transportation is convenient and easily accessible on Metra rail and major highways including the Edens Expressway (I-94), the Tri-State Tollway (I-294), and the Northwest Tollway (I-90.
Located 35 miles north of Chicago on beautiful Lake Michigan, the Village of Lake Bluff was once a turn-of-the-century summer resort. As a modern full service municipality, Lake Bluff is unique in character and hometown values and offers a lifestyle that is removed from urban traffic and bustle.
Residents and visitors enjoy local parks, beaches, tennis, swimming and water-sport recreation on Lake Michigan. Many of the homes in the community are custom designed on wooded, spacious lots, while mansions with spectacular lake front vistas remain on sprawling estates. Lake Bluff residents also enjoy easy access to the Loop, Ravinia Festival and world class golf courses.
The downtown business district features two blocks of shops and services while a contemporary shopping center and industrial park have expanded commercial development on the west side of town. Neighboring Lake Forest provides another unique shopping venue, historic Market Square.
The Village is well known in and around the area for its creative and well attended Fourth of July Parade which is coordinated by a group of local volunteers. In addition to the annual parade, each summer (June through October) the Village hosts a Farmers' Market on the Village Green on Friday mornings from 7:00 to 12:00 p.m. This event showcases some of the very best fresh produce, cut flowers and baked goods in the County. In addition to these favorites, the Village supports a wide array of special events from art festivals to concerts and community barbecues.
